Michael Herold - Q&A.

Michael Herold - RaceJesus Motorsports.

Tell us a little about yourself.
I was born in Michigan in 1957. Grew up living on Ford Lake and went to Ypsilanti High School.  I graduated from Western Michigan University in 1980 with a degree in Industrial Marketing.

Currently I work in Denver Colorado as a teacher and real estate broker. I have brokers licenses in both Colorado and Arizona. In my free time I enjoy "concept formation", NASCAR, and hiking in our beautiful Colorado foothills and mountains.

How did you come up with the concept of RaceJesus Motorsports?
Several years ago I had a vivid dream in which I envisioned the RaceJesus Motorsports car racing in the final laps of a NASCAR Winston Cup car, it was the Winston Cup back then.  Well it is a long story but needless to say our car won the race and I woke up. I believe God spoke to me and said "I want you to go racing Michael". Needless to say my first thought was "me - why me".

So I decided to do what I could, and that was set up this web site to promote the idea. I have always been interested in and have studied racing and race teams since I went to my first race at Michigan International Speedway as a teenager.

What are your plans for the Teams?
I certainly don't want to drive (he chuckles) I'm too old and certainly not experienced enough for that.  I actually drive like my grandmother but I won't elaborate on that.

My goal is to set up the team, stand in the back, and let the professional members of our team do their job. I see myself, with Gods help, wisdom, and favor as the vision and direction of the team, so that's what I will focus on.

Eventually I would like to expand our vision to include every type of racing endeavor beyond simply Motorsports. I would support an Olympic class RaceJesus Track and Field Team, a RaceJesus Cycle Team, and a RaceJesus Swim Team.

Also there is the possibility to go into other Motorsports racing classes and at other local tracks around the country by becoming associated with local race teams and drivers who are interested in supporting the RaceJesus concept. 

How do you plan to raise the funding required for your venture?
This web site is the first step in our journey to the race track, and we will work to be racing in 2008 or 2009, We will begin with a win at Daytona, of course I say that with a smile, but I do believe with God all things are possible.

Tell us about you evangelistic views.
I'm not really a Bible thumper so to speak. We will simply race the car and let the Lord work with the individuals as he will.  We will never judge or find fault with any person or fan, that's not our place. Others may, but we rest on the fact Gods mercy and grace is required by all. That's what Jesus gives us, so you are invited to Ask Him Now.

Why do you believe RaceJesus Motorsports will be successful?
You first have to decide what do you mean in terms of being a success. Is it winning the Sprint Cup or is it making it to the track, qualifying, winning a race? Or is it having people come to the web site to consider what Jesus means to them and possibly asking him into their lives so they have more peace and live better lives? Without doubt we are currently a success. Many people have been asking Jesus into their lives on our Ask Him Now page.

When we get started it is true that there is a huge following for NASCAR, and we look forward to the day when our car is in the lead, and when FOX, TBN, NBC or the Speed Channel broadcasts the name of RaceJesus to millions. That will certainly be a success.

NASCAR events attract over 7 million fans to the track each year, and has over 20 million viewers a week on Television. That's a pretty big church if you ask me.

How will you get started?  
There is a team out of Denver now, Furniture Row Racing, and I will seek a chance to become a satellite team with them. Otherwise I will have to let God do the work on that front, because I believe even with all our efforts, it has to be God that makes it happen.
